French hat trick raises Raiders

Raider Corbin French had a hat trick and Austin Cordoza had a goal and two assists to lead the Raiders to an 8-1 rout of Carbondale. Blue Ridge is 5-1 on the season.

Allen Weed scored first for the Raiders, putting the first point on the board at the 31:00 mark.

One minute later, French scored his first of three off an assist by Austin Cordoza.

Hunter Conklin, assisted by Tyrell Cheeseboro, posted a goal at 44:00.

French dominated the next few minutes of the match – with a score at 46:00 and his third goal at 48:00.
Cardoza again provided an assist.

With an assist from Dan Braun, Taylor Kelly earned the sixth game point at the 52:00 mark; and Jordan Mann, assisted by Braun, put one in the goal at 54:00.

Cardoza capped off the Raider scoring at 62:00.

With the game kept mainly under the control of the Raider offense, keeper Shawn Woodruff earned two saves. Carbondale scored at the 63:00 mark.

Holy Cross 3
Mountain View’s Alex McDonald scored late in the second half for Mountain View to force a 3-3 tie in a Division III game with Holy Cross.

Ryan Lavin had a goal and an assist for the Eagles. His first goal cam early, at 1:20, off an assist by Zeke Cross.

Holy Cross answered at the 8:49 mark and followed up at 17:28, posted another goal at 57:11 pulling ahead by two late in the match.

Mountain View rallied with Ed Bognatz getting on the board at 66:50, assisted by Lavin; and McDonald coming in with the tie-making goal at 78:27.

Goalie Jesse Gerfin had five saves for the Eagles.

Montrose 7
Forest City 2
Nick Henry had a hat trick and Zack Dieck had two goals and an assist to lead the Meteors in a 7-2 win over Forest City on Tuesday.

Ian Bailey and David Pollak scored for Forest City.

Todd Lattimore scored first for the Meteors, assisted by Troy Ely at 4:00.

Forest City answered with Ian Bailey getting the Foresters on the board at 7:00.

Montrose then took over with Dieck scoring at 15:00 and 20:00, on assists from Lattimore and Ely.

Two penalty kicks by Nick Henry added to the Montrose tally.

The Foresters’ Pollak then shot one in at 36:00.

Henry garnered his hat-trick third point at 72:00 with an assist from Johnny Amato; and Chris Spence capped off the Meteor scoring effort with an assist from Dieck.

Montrose keeper Brendan Buck posted five saves; while Dakota Knehr-Cook had 10 for the Foresters

The win brought Montrose to 5-1 on the season.

Elk Lake 7
Old Forge 0
Elk Lake shut out Old Forge, 7-0, with Ben Woolcock leading the way with two goals.

Bailey Newhart and Chris Cook each had a goal and an assist.

Blake Chew was first to score for the Warriors at 21:21. Woolcock then posted his first of two at 28:31.
Newhart got the assist on a Luis Laboda goal at 44:38; and Newhart hit the mark, assisted by Chris Cook, at 52:52.

Woolcock capitalized on the Warrior momentum, coming right back with a goal a minute later at 53:56.

Cook added to the board, assisted by Jason Vazquez, at 65:55; and Reirdon Reyan, assisted by Juan Laboda, capped off the Warrior effort.

Goalie Zach Groover had four saves for Elk Lake.

Blue Ridge 0
At Blue Ridge, Francisco Lopez scored two goals and Blake Chew had a goal and an assist to lead Elk Lake in a 5-0 win over the Raiders.

Ben Woolcock kicked off the scoring for the Warriors at 27:00.

Lopez landed his first of two at the 37:00 with an assist from Chew.

Chew scored at 63:00, with Luis Laboda adding the Elk Lake tally at 68:00.

Lopez capped off the Warriors scoring effort with a point at the 71:00 mark.

Goalie Zack Groover posted three saves for the Warriors.

Blue Ridge keeper Shawn Woodruff had 5.

Mountain View 6
Mid Valley 0
At Mountain View, James Goodenough scored two goals and Ed Bognatz and Nate Ransom had a goal and an assist to lead the Eagles in a 6-0 shut out over Mid Valley.

Justin Rowe and Ryan Lavin also put up points for the Eagles.

Goalie Jesse Gerfin had five saves.

Mountain View has five wins on the season, no losses and two ties.
