Lakeland (4-2 overall, 1-0 in division) capitalized on five lost fumbles by the Meteors. The Chiefs had 11 backs carry the ball and scored 42 points in the first half, including 35 in the second quarter in the 48-0 win over Montrose in the Lackawanna Football Conference Division II game.
Lakeland kept pounding away at the Montrose defense.
Lakeland’s defense also had a goal line stand in the first quarter, and thwarted a late Montrose scoring chance when freshman Paul Sokoloski forced a fumble and sophomore Tyler Bylotas recovered at the 1.
Montrose (0-1, 1-5) was led by Patrick Parks, who had 82 yards rushing on 14 carries, and 53 yards passing.
