The Student Athlete of the Week is Montrose soccer team captain, Joe Rodino.
The senior “stopper” (center defense) has been playing the sport for 10 years.
“I love the challenge of the game because you have to play physical and work together to succeed.” says Rodino. The Meteor team is having a successful season and currently has a 6-1 record.
Rodino keeps busy off the soccer field –working three part-time jobs; two in restaurants and one at a mechanic shop. He is also a Boy Scout working towards earning his Eagle Scout award.
In school, he participates in other in track, snowboarding in the Ski Club, Student Council, FBLA, Spirit Squad, Honors Club, and Varsity Club.
His work ethic helped him step up his performance on the soccer field and also in the classroom where he has earned first honors through all of high school.
Rodino has a great sense of humor and enjoys public speaking, a leadership skill that benefits him in school, scouts and sports. He encourages younger athletes to “enjoy the here and now.”
Following graduation, he plans to attend Wilkes University and major in business or accounting.
He lives in Bridgewater Township and is the son of Iris Hoffman and Thomas Rodino.
