Forest City Borough celebrated the holiday season with “Trees ‘N Town Winterfest” on Saturday, Dec. 13. The event was co-sponsored by the Greater Forest City Business Association (GFCBA) and the Forest City Area Historical Society.
Main Street businesses had been preparing for the festival for weeks by decorating the fronts of their buildings. The GFCBA donated trees to many shops, which were hung with lights and ornaments along the sidewalks.
Crowds began wandering the city sidewalks around 4 p.m., some taking advantage of horse-drawn carriage rides. Many gathered at the Forest City Senior Center to enjoy hot dogs, wimpies, pierogies and hot chocolate. Other shops and vendors also welcomed visitors, and photos with Santa were available.
At the historical society museum, the walkway to the entrance sparkled with luminary memorials. Inside, activities included an antique Christmas exhibit, a family photo booth, and a craft table for children.
The Winterfest was topped off with a town Christmas tree lighting across from the borough building, followed by a musical show at the museum featuring the Cornerstone Bible Church Band.
