Slide repair plans in Susq. Depot

BY STACI WILSON

With over a year before the project’s proposed start date, PennDOT and engineers spoke with the Susquehanna Borough Council Wednesday, Jan. 14 about repairs planned for a slide on SR 92, between Vine and High streets.

Repair work is slated to begin April 2016; a traffic light will be installed at the borough line and another at High St. during the construction.

Neighboring Oakland Borough is in negotiations with American Energy Company – a company interested in the reconstruction of the breach in the dam. Susquehanna council agreed to send a letter of support for the potential project.

Letters are prepared to go out to landlords regarding the annual rental inspections.

Council also voted to replace the furnace that services the borough building and library. Arctic Bear of Binghamton, N.Y., was awarded the bid at a cost of $17,590.

The cost includes the conversion to a propane furnace, installation, and removal of the old tank. Three bids were received with Arctic Bear being the lowest.

Chris Herbery was reappointed by council to serve on the Tri-Borough Municipal Authority.
