Accidents have claimed the life of two New York men in the past two weekends in Susquehanna County.
Troy Snell, 30, Endicott, N.Y., was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash Sunday, July 12 on Jones Creek Rd., in Liberty Twp.
Snell was riding a dirt bike and failed to negotiate a curve in the road as the motorcycle approached the road’s intersection with SR 29. He struck a guide rail and was thrown from the bike and hit a tree. According to police, Snell was not wearing a helmet.
Tpr. John Szuch investigated the crash. Police were assisted at the scene by Snake Creek Volunteer Fire Company, United Fire Company and the Montrose Minute Men.
In the early morning hours of July 5, Seth Swindler, 21, of Conklin, N.Y., was killed after he was struck by a car in a field off SR 267 near the state line in Choconut Twp.
Swindler and two 17-year-old females, one from Conklin and one from Florida, were riding a mattress being pulled behind a vehicle in a field.
The vehicle towing the mattress crossed in front of another vehicle that was exiting the field which struck the mattress with Swindler and the two teens on it.
