Players representing Susquehanna County made the most of their opportunity to shine. … For the City.

Coming from mostly a rural area and traveling more than 40 miles for practice, the Sabers made valuable contributions to a 41-6 win over the County on Wednesday night in the 81st Scranton Lions Club Dream Game at John Henzes/Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Austin White, a versatile quarterback, completed four passes for 75 yards and ran for 12 more.

Christian Miller, who told City coach Brian Fahey that he was chosen to play in the game for defense only, harassed the County offense and had a pair of sacks and two vicious open-field tackles.

“I wasn’t nominated for offense, I was here to play defense,” Miller said. “I wanted to represent Susquehanna and play hard. I wasn’t here to play patty-cake, I was here to play some defense.”

And Steve Jesse, a late addition to the team as a kicker and who will be attending Ursinus, drilled five of his six extra points.
