Police seek bank robber

A man robbed the NBT Bank in Great Bend Twp. just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The bank is offering a reward to anyone with information that would lead to an arrest and conviction.

 

A reward is being offered to anyone who has information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect who robbed the NBT Bank branch in Great Bend Twp. on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

NBT Bancorp Inc., the parent company of NBT Bank, is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for original information leading to the apprehension, arrest and conviction of any individual or individuals responsible for committing this robbery, the company said in a release last week.

According to police, the man walked into the bank, located on SR 11, wrote out a note demanding money and handed it to one of the tellers.

The suspect indicated he had a bomb and produced a soft-sided cooler that he threatened was a bomb. The bomb turned out to be a fake, according to police.

The man fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and drove from the scene in a white, four-door sedan with New York plates and black rims.

The suspect is described as a white male, dressed in black and wearing a black baseball cap. He was about 6’2” tall, stocky build, with blue eyes and unshaven facial hair.

PSP, Gibson was assisted at the scene by the FBI and the Scranton Police Bomb Unit.
