Man pleads guilty to Southtown robbery

BY STACI WILSON

The man who robbed a South Montrose convenience store at gunpoint in June pleaded guilty Friday in the Susquehanna County Court of Common Pleas.
Michael Zeyher, 23, of Douglassville and Elk Lake, admitted to robbing the Montrose Beer & Deli (formerly Lockhart’s), entering a guilty plea to one count of robbery.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 17.

According to court documents, Zeyher brandished a pistol and held the store cashier at gunpoint and demanded money from the cash register. He got away with about $1,000.

While fleeing the scene south toward Tunkhannock on State Route 29 at a high rate of speed, Zeyher’s vehicle struck another vehicle traveling north on the roadway.

Zeyher was apprehended following a multi-agency investigation involving state police from the Gibson and Tunkhannock barracks and the Susquehanna County Sheriff’s Office; and was being held on burglary charges in Berks County at the time of his arrest for the Susquehanna County robbery.
