Several bank-foreclosed properties in Harford formerly owned by actor Bronson Pinchot have been sold at a sheriff’s sale, bringing an end to the heightened attention on the village and sometimes stormy relationship with the cash-strapped star.
The process dragged on for years as Pinchot was not available to be served legal documents, forcing lenders and county officials to take a more circuitous route. Early this year, he filed Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, further delaying the process.
According to information issued by the sheriff, Glenn and Margaret Smith purchased a property at 48 Decker Court for $77,520. The fair market value on the property, which is distinguished by a cupola and oval window, was listed at $128,169.
A company called Up 4 Sale Property LLC paid $28,275.42 for a property located at 3905 Route 547, Harford. The property has an estimated fair market value of $149,640.
First National Bank of Pennsylvania picked up the building that formerly housed the Harford Post Office, for $17,444.25.
The star known for playing Balki Bartokomous for eight seasons on ABC’s “Perfect Strangers” used the small village and his fixer-upper properties as the setting of The Bronson Pinchot Project, a show that ran for a short time on the DIY Network and can be seen in reruns Mondays at 7:30 a.m.
Liens on his properties stretched back to at least 2005, including federal tax liens. In 2014, Pinchot said in an email he would hold onto the properties, hoping his show would be renewed or a financial partner step in. He also alluded to tension between him and locals in the 19th Century town.
Pinchot is working, however, according to imdb.com, which reported him with a supporting role in the yet-to-be released feature comedy “The Strike” and the currently filming movie “Double Play.”
