Deadline approaching for Constitution grants

Local Susquehanna County organizations that support emergency services, environmental preservation, youth and senior services are just a few of the community organizations that are eligible for funding provided by the Constitution Pipeline Community Grant Program. The deadline for submitting applications for the spring cycle is April 1, 2016.

Grants up to $5,000 per applicant are being awarded to eligible organizations to fund projects that provide benefit to local communities or the environment.

Since its inception in 2012, more than $1.9 million has been awarded by the Constitution Pipeline Community Grant Program to 145 organizations to help fund noteworthy projects that directly benefit communities in the pipeline project area. In Susquehanna County, Constitution Pipeline has awarded 26 grants totaling more than $409,000.

Two cycles of grant awards are announced each year. The upcoming cycle of grant awards will be announced this spring. Grant applications can be completed online at www.constitutionpipeline.com.

One of the Susquehanna County recipients was the Union Dale Volunteer Fire Company, which used its grant award for $7,500 to purchase a Snobulance.

Andrew Belcher, Assistant Fire Chief with the Union Dale Volunteer Fire Company said, “Last year there were six serious injuries on the rail trail/snow mobile trails. A rescue sled provides safety and access for manpower. On behalf of the Union Dale volunteer fire company, we want to thank the Constitution Pipeline and other donations which are going to make this possible.”
