Mt. View Class of ’16 says ‘farewell for now’

Academics, arts and athletics. Mountain View’s graduation class excelled in all areas – personally and as a group.

Salutatorian Alison Showalter said her classmates had put their “heart and soul into this place.”

And as their high school journey ended Saturday, June 4, Showalter said, “Take tie to remind yourself of all the things you loved about high school. Take it all in for one last time, because when we walk off this stage, it’s truly over.”

High School Principal Robert Presley said the Class of 2016 would be missed. “Cherish your accomplishments and memories,” he said, “They will last long after you leave these halls.”

Valedictorian Hannah Phillips said she faced a blank screen when trying to write her commencement address. “You spend years with a group of people, and yet have to think so hard at what to say in a moment like this. It’s impossible to extend gratitude to everyone who touched our lives over the past 13 years,” she said.

Class Vice President Stephanie Ostir said, “The bonds we share as a class are special.” She noted personal accomplishments, as well as times the group came together as a group. “I’m thankful to be a part of the Class of 2016. This is not ‘good-bye’ just farewell for   now.”
