Hellstead Manor gets final Planning Commission approval

The area’s newest Halloween attraction received the green light from the Susquehanna County Planning Commission on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Hellstead Manor was given its final approval from the county board, just days ahead of its Friday, Sept. 30 opening.

The haunted attraction is located on just off Route 11 on Turkey Woods Road (also known as Harmony Road), in Great Bend Twp.

The planning commission also gave a conditional, preliminary approval to Xpress Natural Gas for the Forest Lake CNG Center, to be construction on Nash lands, located along Lake Hill Road., in Forest Lake Twp.
According to a revised plan submitted to the Planning Commission, access to the site has been changed to a driveway off the North Road, rather than the first proposed Lake Hill Rd. A copy of the driveway permit is still needed.
The revised plan shows two compressors, located on concrete pads and surrounded by a gravel area. The entire graveled area will be surrounded by chain link fencing, topped with barbed wire; and a gate will be installed where the driveway meets the graveled area.

The compressors will be located outside the 200-feet setback from the wetlands, as well as from the property lines.

The Planning Commission will also need a copy of a permit from DEP and/or the Conservation District because the driveway impacts a small amount (.035 acre) of wetlands.
Clearwater Technology of Montrose has proposed a water treatment facility industrial development on leased land in Jessup Twp.

The site, located on T-684, is developed with a natural gas well pad and a Williams compressor station.

Clearwater Technology is proposing to lease 5.4 acres of property and develop the land with an equipment building, parking lot, a 30-feet wide driveway, and two 90-feet wide treatment tanks.
The Planning Commission granted its preliminary approval, conditional upon the receipt of DEP’s approval of the sewer planning; approval of the NMPDES permit; and receipt of municipality report from Jessup Twp.

Susquehanna Gathering Company received preliminary approval to build a natural gas compressor station on Tingley Lake Rd., Harford Twp. The site is comprised of 85.5 acres, and had previously been used for a commercial development.

A portion of the proposed station is within the setback from wetland area. Susquehanna Gathering requested a waiver of that requirement, allowing the building to be placed about half the required distance from the wetlands.

The company intends to use wetland area to the south of the development as a future wetland mitigation site in the event that wetlands are impacted from other developments by the company.
