Meteors take win in division crossover

Montrose took on Blue Ridge at home in a Division II-III crossover match Monday, with the Meteors claiming a 7-2 win over the Raiders. Montrose is second in Div. 2 with a 6-2 record, while Blue Ridge is unbeaten, 8-0, in Division III.
Johnny Amato led Montrose with two goals; and Jackson Griffiths added scored once and had an assist.
Chris Spence, Zach Dieck, Danny Barclay and Chris Lewis also scored for the Meteors. Goalie Brandon Buck had six saves and Chris Lewis had two.
For the Raiders, Corbin French and Kaleb Folk both had goals, while goalkeeper Eric Hall had 11 saves.
Last week, Blue Ridge posted two shut out wins – one over Mid Valley, 9-0, and the other an 11-0 rout of Riverside.
Montrose collected a 2-1 win over Mountain View last week, but also sustained a 2-1 loss to Holy Cross.
Against Mid Valley, Tyrell Cheeseboro had a hat trick and an assist for the Raiders.
Corbin French added two more goals and an assist.
Also scoring for Blue Ridge were Kaleb Folk, Garrett Mansfield, Axle Mejia and Hunter Conklin.
Cheeseboro repeated the performance of three goals and an assist against Riverside on the Raider field; and French scored a hat trick.
Jon Blewett added two goals; and Axel Mejia, Hunter Conklin, and Cameron Franks each scored one.
In the Montrose win over Mountain View, Tom Vaccaro scored in the sixth minute of overtime to give the Meteors the win.
Riley Birchard also scored for Montrose.
Alex Showalter had one goal for Mountain View.
Mike Henry scored the lone goal for Montrose in the loss to Holy Cross. Goalie Brendan Buck posted 11 saves.
On Thursday, Forest City blanked Mid Valley, 10-0. Jared Paulin scored six, and Jay Lipko added a goal and two assists for the Foresters.
Tyler Clift added a goal and three assists; Christopher Karwen had a goal and an assist; and Matthew Keller scored one.
Against Old Forge, the Foresters picked up a 2-1 overtime win with Christopher Karwan finding the net at the 94 minute mark. Jay Lipko also scored for Forest City.
Elk Lake split the week with a loss to Lakeland and win over Old Forge.
Reirdon Reyean and Blake Chew each scored three in the 9-3 win over Old Forge. Ben Woolcock scored two and had four assists.
Evan DeBonis also scored for Elk Lake.
