A very successful October 2016 WFMM Chapter of the NWTF Youth Pheasant hunt was held at Salt Springs State Park.

Jack Sorber, President of the Wilson F. Moore Memorial (WFMM) chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), announced that “this past week the our chapter received grant monies from the Pennsylvania State Chapter of the NWTF to fund 3 projects that will have a positive impact with youth. The WFMM chapter received $2350 to help us fund our annual Youth Pheasant Hunt, help us supply educational materials for the youth Hunter safety training and to help fund several local schools/organizations with their Archery in the School programs.”
The WFMM chapter holds an annual youth pheasant hunt at Salt Springs State Park in early October. This is a joint effort with the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) which supplies the pheasants, the Friends of Salt Springs who give us permission to hold the hunt on this property, friends of the WFMM NWTF who serve as hunting guides by bring their bird dogs, other friends who bring shotguns and extra hunting gear for the youth to borrow during the hunt and the local chapter which coordinates the event and supplies drinks, beverages and youth memberships to the NWTF.
The local chapter will also be sending a larger contribution (money) to several local schools to fund their Archery in the schools programs. Mr. Sorber further explained that, “For the past few years we have been able to donate several hundred dollars to these programs and this year we will continue to donate our own local money plus a larger amount thanks to the PANWTF grant money.”
The WFMM chapter also will be providing educational materials to youth when they are attending this year’s Hunter Safety Courses.
