BR hires special education director

The Blue Ridge School Board appointed Casey Webster as the district’s Special Education Director at a meeting held Monday, July 24.
Webster will take over the position effective Aug. 7, pending paperwork, at a prorated salary of $75,000 per year.
Webster replaces Gail Wnorowski who left the position at the end of the school year.
The board approved the purchase of a 2017 Ford F-550 truck with an up-fit for a plow, flatbed and spreader unit at a cost of $74,650.
A Quality Pro-Grade utility trailer was also purchased at a cost of $4,999.
The district approved using Barnes Kasson Hospital for IEP reviews for the 2017-18 school year.
An agreement with Pivot Physical Therapy of Pennsylvania for physical therapy services was also approved for the coming school year.
Amber Turner was hired as a full-time personal care aide; and Joshua Martino was hired as a full-time custodian, effective Aug. 10.
The board will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 21, 7 p.m., in the elementary school cafeteria.
The 2017 school year is scheduled to get underway for teachers reporting for four days of in-service on Monday, Aug. 21; and students beginning class on Monday, Aug. 28.
