Cavaliers take wins from locals

In limited wrestling action over the week, Elk Lake traveled to Scranton Prep for a tri-meet with the host Cavaliers and Western Wayne.
Cliff Steele and Kellen Wescott picked up pins at 170 and 182 pounds respectively in the Warriors 63-15 loss to Prep. Chris Kinder earned a decision over Alec Buttner 10-6 at 160 pounds.
Warrior grappler Josh Skinner lost 5-0 at 285 pounds and Noah Atkins (145) and Jason Salmini (195) were pinned.
The Warriors fell 72-12 to Western Wayne. Elk Lake picked up their points on forfeits, Jerry Fasset (285), Atkins, Kinder, and Steele all suffered pins.
Despite gaining three pins, Blue Ridge fell to Scranton Prep 52-18 on Friday. Adam Roe pinned M.J. Stivala at 145 pounds, and was followed in the winner’s circle by Tom Gudykunst and Nathan MacArthur.
Gudykunst pinned Jeffrey Pezzutto at 160 pounds, and MacArther pinned Conner Chernesky at 120 pounds.
In other matches, Nate Barton lost 4-0 at 138 pounds while Eli Aldrich was pinned at 285. Cole Soden (126) and Alec Martin (132) were also pinned.
Mountain View also suffered defeat at the hands of Scranton Prep, 60-21. Isaac Cook led the Eagles with a pin of Pezzuto at 160 pounds, and Frankie Valentine took a decision bout over Stivala at 145 pounds, 6-5. Tyler Zeck was pinned at 285 pounds for the Eagles and Corey Sherwood suffered a pin at 132.
Monday night in nonleague match Mountain View fell to Wallenpaupack 75-6. Jeremiah Schwartz lost a close 4-3 decision to Devin Ortiz at 170 pounds. Cook was pinned at 160 and Logan Sprague (152), Zeb Gregory (182), Sherwood (132), and Zeck (285) fell in similar fashion at their respective weight classes.
Frankie Valentine picked up a forfeit win at 145 for the lone Eagle points.
