Led by the doubles teams of Seth Bulkley and Tyler Andre, and Jack Baker and Chris Miller, Montrose garnered its second win of the season with a 3-2 win over Riverside on Friday afternoon.
Andre and Bulkley defeated Charles Ponas and Drew Calianno 7-5 and 6-3 to claim Montrose’s second victory of the match, while Baker and Miller secured the match with 7-5, 3-6, and 6-0 win over Nick Ponas and Coby Sophabixamy.
In singles, Steven Vetri defeated Kyle Creedon in a pair of 6-2 sets to give Montrose its first win of the match. Billy Hotaling fell to Noah Jennings 6-4 and 6-2, while Kyle McGranaghan lost to Hunter Talipski 6-4 and 6-3
In a match held April 10, Montrose fell to Valley View 5-0. Jackson Griffiths and Andre won their first set 6-3 in doubles competition before dropping the final two and the match 5-7 and 2-6 to Franco Fajardo and Aaron Harrison. Tracy Kerr and Bulkley earned a victory in the middle set but lost to Francessco Pazzaglia and Bradley Good 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
In singles action, Hotaling dropped a pair of sets to Carlos Possanaza 6-0, 6-1 and Vetri lost a pair of 6-0 sets to Ryan Carrotto. McGranaghan fell to Kevin Duffy 6-3 and 6-0.
The Meteors lost a close match to Honesdale 3-2 on Thursday. Vetri picked up a win in singles action over Ethan Rickard. After dropping the first set 6-3, Vetri won the final two sets 7-5 and a marathon 12-9 win to claim the match. Griffiths and Bulkley combined in double action to pick up a straight 6-4, 6-1 win over John Christiansan and Matt Wherman.
Kerr and Baker dropped the other double match 6-0 and 6-3 to Matt Tracy and Pat Tolerico. In the other Singles action, Hotaling lost 6-2 and 6-3 to Jason Demars, and McGranaghan fell 6-1, 6-0 to Shea Stanton.
