Singers from eight school districts in Susquehanna and Wyoming counties joined their voices on Thursday, May 3 at the Blue Ridge High School for the annual County Chorus festival.

Choral works in a variety of styles were directed by Andrew Ryne Dutko, junior high conductor, and Thomas Welch, senior high conductor.

Blue Ridge’s Kristin Burkhart and Amy Zakarauskas served as the host directors. Alison Yuravich, of Forest City Regional, was the junior high choral accompanist, and Burkhart accompanied the senior high chorus.

The program for the junior high was chosen on a theme of peace on earth and with others surrounding us. The songs included were: Al Shlosha D’Varim by Naplan; Ubi Caritas, by Lightfoot; Hala Lala Layya, by Snyder; and O Colored Earth, by Heitzig.

The senior high chorus performed Heaven’s Gate, with some accomplished improvisational soloists; the traditional gospel Wade in the Water, arranged by Eddleman; Sing Me to Heaven, by Gawthorp, and Who Are the Brave, by Williams/Martin.
