Coming off an impressive tournament-opening victory the Susquehanna County Girls Major Softball team ran into an imposing Tunkhannock team.

Tunkhannock gained the lead and was up 4-0 heading into the fifth when they broke the game open with five runs and then tacked on five more in the sixth to defeat Susquehanna County 14-0.

Tunkhannock’s Hannon held the locals hitless in the game. Olivia Beasley took the loss for Susquehanna County pitching four solid innings before Tunkhannock opened things up.

The 1-1 record in District pool play moved the girls to the Jackie West Memorial consolation tournament where they hosted Wellsboro Monday night for their first-round game.  Susquehanna County prevailed 7-0 and will advance to play the winner of the Towanda versus Canton game on Friday, June 29.

The Boys Majors team (11 and 12-year olds) opened Pool play with an 18-0 loss to Tunkhannock. Brayden McMicken doubled for Susquehanna County and Kayden Bomboy suffered the loss on the mound.

Benefiting from a slew of errors RTL defeated Susquehanna County 15-1 on Monday night. With the loss the locals move to the Danile Aquilio Memorial consolation tournament to face the three seed out of the Mid East Division tonight at a site that was to be determined after press time.

Tunkhannock maintained its dominance of Susquehanna County teams when the Minors (8-10-year olds) opened District 15 Pool play on Saturday. Tunkhannock jumped out early and defeated Susquehanna County 29-2. Andrew Beadle drove in the two runs with a single for the locals.

They hosted RTL last night to conclude District Pool Play. The team will either move into the District Championship as the #2 team from the East Division or be placed in the Joe Shaw Consolation tournament if they finish as the #3 Eastern Division Team.
