Montrose was unable to contain the Wyalusing tandem of quarterback Shane Fuhrey and running back Trent Nickeson as the Rams broke open the game in the second quarter on its way to a 52-6 win over the host Meteors.

Fuhrey and Nickeson accounted for 246 of the Wyalusing’s 350 rushing yards as the Rams took control of the game on a pair of Fuhrey runs. After a Montrose fumble Wyalusing gained the ball on the Montrose 27; Nickeson ripped off a 20-yard run and Fuhrey capped the drive with a seven-yard scamper into the endzone.

Chuck Rohan brought Montrose hope when he picked off a Fuhrey pass and returned it to the Wyalusing 47. But after the ensuing drive stalled, Nickeson bolted down to the Montrose three-yard line with a 64-yard run and Fuhrey punched it in for the score. Brandon Dake converted the two-point conversion with a dive into the endzone Wyalusing was up 14-0.

A Meteor fumble on the kickoff gave the Rams the ball on the 20-yard line and Dake scored on a six-yard run three plays later and added another two-point conversion for 22-0 lead.

The young Montrose squad was undeterred despite the deficit and put together a nine-play 54-yard drive that was highlighted by a 43-yard sneak from Quarterback Ethan Cina. Cameron Harder hauled in a six-yard pass from Cina before the drive stalled on the Wyalusing 8-yard line.

After the turnover on downs, Fuhrey busted through for 67-yard run on the first play and capped the drive with a 1-yard plunge and a two-point conversion to put the Rams up 30-0 at the half.

Dake added another touchdown and two-point conversion in the third quarter and Brian Arnold scored on a 16-yard scamper in the fourth quarter for the Rams.

Montrose got on the scoreboard with 3:50 left in the game after Cina and Rohan connected on two passes including a 25-yard strike for a touchdown. After the run failed on the two-point conversion Montrose trailed 44-6.

Wyalusing would score one more time when Jackson Chilson recovered a Montrose fumble in the endzone and Mitchell Burke converted the two-point conversion with a run.

Cina finished the night 3-7 passing with 67 yards and a touchdown while gaining 19 yards on the ground. Brendan Kanna added 47 yards on the ground on 10 carries, and Rohan finished with 61 yards receiving on his two catches.
