Swimming

Elk Lake Girls’ Swimming picked up a win over Scranton 94-60. Elizabeth Lyden and Megan Bosscher led the way with two individual victories each.

Lyden won the 100 and 200 Freestyle races while Bosscher captured first place in the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Fly stroke.

Samantha Hunsinger was also an individual winner claiming victory in the 100 Backstroke.

Lyden, Bosscher, and Hunsinger teamed up Reese Warriner to capture the 200 Freestyle relay. Lyden, Bosscher, and Warriner then teamed with Georgia Smith to win the 400 Freestyle relays.

Warriner claimed two individual second place finishes. She was second in the 200 Intermediate and the 100 Breast stroke.

Also claiming second-place finishes for the Lady Warriors were Smith in the 50 Freestyle; Cadence DeGregory in 100 Fly stroke; and Alissa Dovin in 500 Free style.

The Elk Lake Boys’ Swim team fell to Scranton, 86-58.

Kale Decker stood out for the Warriors garnering wins in the 200 and 500 Freestyle races and participating in the 400 Freestyle Relay.

Kevin Noldy had the other individual win for Elk Lake as he captured the 100 Backstroke.

Decker and Noldy teamed with Chris Masylar, and Zachary Grovesnor to win the 400 Free Relay.

Noldy also took second place in 200 Intermediate; while Zachary Shields finished second in the 100 Breast Stroke.

 Track

Several Montrose track and field members participated in the Run at the Rec Indoor Track and Field Meet hosted by Clarks Summit University.

Montrose’s Hannah Perkins won the 3,000-meter race finishing in a time of 11 minutes and 26.05 seconds. Perkins also finished fourth in the 800-meter finishing in 2:37.01

The Lady Meteors’ McKenzie White placed fifth in the 200-meter.

In boys’ action in the Run at the Rec, Montrose’s Liam Mead won the 3000-meter in 9:22.07 and was followed by teammate Nick Coy who finished fifth with a time of 10:11.31.

Henry Rogers won the 400-meter in 56.06 and finished fifth in the 55-meter with a time of 7.20 for Montrose.

Colin Chidester was second in the 55-meter hurdles coming in at a time of 8.23. Montrose teammate George Thompson finished fourth with a time of 9.13.

Mead also came in second in the 800-meter finishing with a time of 2:13.98; and Coy placed sixth with a time of 2:19.22.

Thompson also had a fifth-place finish in the 200 meter race coming in at 26.81 seconds.

Football

Montrose football will have a new leader next season. The Montrose School Board approved the hiring of William Sandly as the head football coach for the varsity team. Sandly served on the Riverside staff during the 2018 season.
