SCSD expects tight budget

Susquehanna Community plans to raise taxes to the state-allowed index of 2.4 % this year, announced Superintendent Bronson Stone at the Wednesday, March 20 school board meeting. “It’s a tight budget,” he said.

Stone said the district does not plan to replace two retiring staff members. Increases are expected in the costs of cyber-charter schools and vo-tech tuition, along with pension and health care increases.

The district did receive a $35,000 PA Smart grant to be used to implement computer science courses, especially in coding starting at early grade levels.

Jamie Koziol was elected to serve as the board president following the resignation of Steven Stanford from the seat. Amanda Cook was elected as the board vice president.
