Grace Lutheran pastor to retire

Grace Lutheran Church Pastor Kim Bode will retire from the ministry on Sept. 1 after 29 years at the Hop Bottom church.

He served as vicar in Westfield, NJ, graduating in 1976 from  Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Ill..  Pastor Bode served as ordained minister at Lutheran congregations in Gary, Ind., and Morrisdale, Pa., before coming to Grace Lutheran Church around 1990.

His retirement is bittersweet for the church.  They are happy for this milestone he has reached, but will miss his leadership and care.

Bode and his wife, Anne, reside in Kingsley.  In their retirement, they look forward to being able to travel and visit with their five adult children and eight grandchildren.

The congregation will be honoring the Bodes with a Retirement Celebration at Heart Lake Lodge in Jermyn on Sept. 21, 5-8 p.m.    Both Pastor Bode and Anne – a teacher for many years at Mountain View Elementary – are well-known and respected in the community. Therefore, the congregation extends an invitation to those who would like to attend the buffet dinner celebration.

For reservations and cost information call Eileen at 570-659-2980 before Sept. 6.
