Foresters log good week on course

Forest City enjoyed a good week on the course as the Foresters earned three wins in Lackawanna League play.

The Foresters opened with a defeat of Mountain View 6 ½ to 2 ½ as Henry Nebzydoski, DJ Heath, and John Lesjack had a pair of wins for Forest City.

Nebzydoski beat Robert Hertzong 5-4 and combined to with Paul Debish to win the Better Ball over Hertzog and Charlie Mordent. Debish and Mordent split their individual match.

In the middle group Heath defeated Spencer Sabine 5-3 and won the Better Ball by the same margin with Chris Burnis as the duo defeated Sabine and Johnny Johnson. Johnson won the individual match over Burnis 5-4 for the Eagles.

Lesjack led the final group earning a 5-3 win over Alex Empet and collecting the Better Ball with Abby Swiegel as they defeated Empet and Jack Kowalewski 5-3. Kowalewski won the individual over Swiegel 3-1.

Forest City also defeated Old Forge 6-3 behind two wins from Nebzydoski.

Nebzydoski defeated John Giglio using birdies on the first two holes to prevail 5-4.  He also teamed with Hunter Langman to take the Better Ball from Giglio and Andrew Cummings 4-3.

The Foresters also got wins from Lesjack who defeated Chris Sickle 1-up and Robert Swiegel picked up a forfeit win. Lesjack and Swiegel also won the Better Ball over Sickle 3-2.

The Foresters closed out the week with a 6-3 win over Elk Lake.

Lesjack and Burnis swept all three points in the third group to ensure the win for Forest City.

Burnis defeated Josh McIntyre 3-2 while Lesjack earned a 4-3 advantage over Dan McGee. The pair won the Better Ball 3-2.

Nebzydoski also had two wins for Forest City as he prevailed 5-4 over Nate Warriner and coupled with Langman to defeat Warriner and Jason Mowry one up.

Mowry took his match over Langman 5-4 and Colby Baker earned two points for Elk Lake with his 3-2 individual win over Ben Shea and a Better Ball win with Zac Shields as they defeated Shea and Heath 2-1. Heath defeated Shields 5-4.

Montrose opened a tough week with a 7-2 loss to Western Wayne at Montrose Country Club. Jared Corson defeated Alex Hineline 4-3 and Mason Dieck picked up a forfeit win for the Meteors.

AJ Dovin had two wins, but Montrose fell to Lackawanna Trail 7-2 at Rock Creek Golf Course.

Dovin defeated Adam Jones one up and teamed with Kaiden Corson to take their Better Ball match one up over Jones and Richie Cochinni.

The Meteors also fell to Mid Valley 6-3 at Scott Greens in Montdale.

Dovin again led the way with a one up victory over Austin Zbach and another teaming with Zaiden Corson to take the Better Ball over Zbach and Christian Riccardo one up.  

Blue Ridge ended its week on a positive note with a 7-2 win over Elk Lake at Tall Pines as the Raiders swept the second and third groups.

Tyler Hillard defeated Colby Baker 2-1 and James Barbour took Zac Shields 5-4 in their individual matches. In the Better Ball Hillard and Barbour edged Baker and Shields 3-2.

In group three Andrew Scott won over McIntyre 5-4 and Preston Perry defeated McGee 5-3. Scott and Perry combined to take the Better Ball 5-3.

Mowry secured two wins for the Warriors winning 3-1 over Kyle Spoor and combining with Nate Warriener to edge Spoor and Joe Curtis in the Better Ball 3-1. Curtis defeated Warriner 5-4 in individual play.

Blue Ridge fell to Dunmore 6 ½ to 2 ½ as the Bucks swept the final group.

Hillard led Blue Ridge with 3-2 win over Alec DeSando and teamed with Barbour to split the Better Ball with DeSando and Frankie Ruggiero. Scott earned the other Raider point with a 5-4 win over Will McHale.

Hillard earned two wins and birdied hole six but it wasn’t enough as the Raiders fell to Riverside 6-3.

The Blue Ridge senior defeated Connor Monahan 3-1 and combined with Barbour to take the Better Ball over Monahan and Carl Walsh 2-1.

Perry also had a win for Blue Ridge prevailing over Hunter Geise 2-1.

Mountain View also fell to Lakeland 7-2 and Riverside 8 ½- ½. 

Johnson had the two wins against Lakeland defeating Ethan Roberts 2-1 and taking the Better Ball by being one up over Roberts and Robert Burgio.

Against Riverside Ben DeMark earned a split with Carl Walsh to avoid a shutout.
