FC claims title, Montrose top seed

Forest City cemented the Lackawanna League Division III title with a 6-3 win over Carbondale.

The Lady Foresters rallied from a 2-0 deficit when Bella Pleska scored twice in the final 25 minutes and Isabella Richner added another goal to Forest City a 3-2 halftime lead.

Jessica Curley scored twice in the second half and Richner added a second goal for the final tally. Goalkeeper Haley Hermann had seven saves for Forest City.

As of press time Forest City will host Carbondale in the first round of the District II Class A playoffs at a date to be determined.

Montrose managed only two shots in their 2-0 loss to division champion Lakeland.

Goalkeeper Mya Snyder had 15 saves for Montrose. The Lady Meteors finished the season 10-5 and will hold the top seed in the District II Class A playoffs.

Mountain View defeated Holy Cross 1-0 when Reagan White got a ball past the Holy Cross Goalkeeper.

The Lady Eagles’ final match with Dunmore was postponed twice to Monday.  Regardless of that match’s outcome Mountain will be the number two seed in the District II Class A playoffs.
