Eagles push past EL, Sabers rally by Raiders

way to a 53-36 win over Elk Lake

Wyatt Brozonis scored five points in the opening quarter as Mountain View went up 13-10 on the Warriors. Trever Graham and Matt Mowry each scored four points for the Warriors.

In the second quarter Mountain View took advantage of foul trouble on Elk Lake big man Brant Marshall and Michael Fanelli and Preston Petts combined for 12 points as the Eagles opened up a 28-18 halftime lead.

Elk Lake outscored Mountain View 10-9 after intermission as Wyatt Casselbury scored four points to keep the Warriors within striking distance at 37-28.

But in the fourth stanza Brozonis had another big quarter scoring six points and Jalique Gillyard buried two deep jumpers to offset another fine quarter from Mowry who scored six points.

Fanelli finished with 17 to lead Mountain View while Brozonis had 13 and Petts chipped in with nine.

Elk Lake was led by Mowry who had 10 while Graham had nine and Jacob Gustin had seven.

Susquehanna began its week of upsets by erasing a 13-point deficit and beating rival Blue Ridge 44-43.

Jakub Tomczyk scored 10 points in the fourth quarter as the Sabers rallied and outscored the Raiders 18-4 in the fourth quarter.

Matt Phillips added two threes and Blue Ridge failed to execute on the offensive end to maintain its lead.

Blue Ridge jumped out early holding the Sabers to a lone field goal as they earned a 14-2 advantage behind Gavin Rosa, Ben Bleck and Ryan Mills who each scored four points.

Susquehanna turned the tables in the second quarter outscoring the Raiders 16-7 as Spencer Beamer and Charlie Towner came off the bench to combine for eight points and Tomcyzk and Gavin Baker each scored four to cut the lead to 21-18 at the half.

After intermission Blue Ridge regained the momentum as Rosa scored nine points and Tyler Hillard added seven and Blue Ridge led 39-26 going into the fourth quarter.

Tomcyzk led Susquehanna with 16 points while Towner chipped in with eight and Baker and Beamer added six each. Rosa led Blue Ridge with 17 and Bleck added eight.

Lackawanna Trail outscored Montrose 46-27 in the middle quarters to defeat the Meteors 72-57.

Sam Stashko scored six points in the opening quarter as the Meteors stayed even with Trail 13-13 after the first quarter.

However, in the second quarter Nico Berrios scored seven and Josh Rzcidulo and Brycen Decker each had five as the Lions surged ahead 34-25.  Trent Leonard scored seven for Montrose.

After intermission Richard Helbing took over for Trail scoring 13 points as Trail seized control and led 59-40 going into the fourth quarter.

Stashko paced Montrose with 18 points and Leonard added 14 and Conner Watkins chipped in with 13 for Montrose.

Dunmore used a big third quarter to pull away from Forest City in a divisional crossover game and defeat the Foresters 66-49.

Leading 24-16 at the half Dunmore outscored Forest City 22-16 after intermission to seize control of the game.

Forest City’s Cade Hartman had a career-high 17 points to lead the Foresters and Evan Piatak chipped in with 10.
