Members of the Montrose Kiwanis moved forward with the second round of hanging banners of Hometown Heroes around the borough this past weekend. The banners serve to honor former and current members of the military who have ties to the Montrose community.

The latest round of banners – which now total nearly 180 – were installed on South Main, Rt. 706 west, Lower Green & Courthouse area, near the Montrose Country Club and Lake Montrose, Rt. 167, Church Street and Cherry Street.

Last year was the first year of the program, with 90 Hometown Hero banners put on display. Around another 90 were hung over the weekend by Kiwanis volunteers.

Down to Earth Equipment Rentals provided the telehandler machine for the project.

There are still banners at the printers or waiting to go to print and the Montrose Kiwanis continue to accept applications. If you would like information on the Hometown Hero banner program, please contact Debbie Crisman at 570-278-1026 or email: dhc@epix.net.

I drove 3 hours today from NJ and drove up and down the streets several times trying to find my Dad’s banner. His name is James F. McCabe was in WWII and grew up on Chenango Street. Can someone find his banner and send me a picture? It would be greatly appreciated. Also, where can I find it if I come up again
