MONTROSE — The 2025 November municipal election saw Susquehanna County voters turn out in the thousands, according to unofficial summary reports on the Susquehanna County website. Out of 27,734 registered voters, 11,340 ballots were cast and 2,193 mail-in ballots received. At the time of writing on Friday, official results were not yet available because the County Elections Returns Board meets to certify results on the Friday after Election Day.
In the Trehab office in Montrose on Election Day, Molly Riordan was working the polls as the unofficial Judge of Elections in Montrose’s Ward 1. Riordan did not throw her hat in the ring for the Judge of Elections race again this year, but someone still had to do it. Around 109 votes had come in by the afternoon but voters had plenty of time to get their ballots in before 8 p.m.
Robert Allen was helping oversee the voting process as well, being that the Judge of Elections and Inspector of Elections for the ward were write-ins. Allen ran for Judge of Elections in Silver Lake Township, having been encouraged by family and friends to get back into local politics after a pause. Unofficial results show Allen (R) netted 54.55% of the county’s votes, earning him the position. His opponent, Susan English (D) got 285 votes to his 342.
For the most part, local races were uncontested, such as the ones for Prothonotary/Clerk of Courts in which Jan Krupinski received 9,536 votes out of 9,700. Judge Jason Legg maintained his bid for retention, with 65.73% of voters saying yes. Riordan and Danielle Diddick were also having a mini-contest to see which street in Montrose had more voters come out, Chenango or Lake Avenue. It seemed that Lake Ave was pulling ahead that afternoon.
The majority of voters put their attention on the big races for Judge of the Superior Court and Judge of the Commonwealth Court, with results showing 11,076 total votes cast in the former and 11,068 for the latter, respectively. Maria Battista, the Republican candidate, took 64.76% of Susquehanna County’s votes for Judge of the Superior Court. In the end it was reported that Democrat candidate Brandon Neuman won the state of Pennsylvania with 2,031,633 votes (55.88%) to Battista’s 1,533,212 (42.17%), according to the unofficial results that can be viewed on www.electionreturns.pa.gov. The retention vote for Justice of the Supreme Court passed with Christine Donohue, Kevin M. Dougherty and David Wecht all securing their seats once more.
Alice Beck Dubow won the retention vote for Judge of the Superior Court and Michael H. Wojcik won retention for the Judge of the Commonwealth Court according to unofficial state results.
For Judge of the Commonwealth Court, Republican candidate Matt Wolford took 66.16% of the vote winning Susquehanna County but Democratic candidate Stella Tsai won the state with 56.66% of the vote.
