Student Athlete of the Week- Sabrina Fallon

Mountain View’s Sabrina Fallon is lone senior player on the Lady Eagles volleyball team and is the Independent’s Student Athlete of the Week. Fallon has been playing volleyball for three years and is an outside hitter.

“I started playing because I stopped playing soccer in ninth grade and it seemed like something interesting to do to keep me busy,” Fallon said. “I play power. I love volleyball because, for one, it is something that not everyone learns and can succeed at. There is also such a fluid motion to the game that just mesmerizes me. When I get an ace or kill, it is such a good feeling that you cannot feel in many other sports; everyone has a chance of getting a point to contribute.”

As the only senior, she is the team’s natural leader. “I love my team. I am the only senior on my team, but I have connected with so many of those girls. We laugh and get along so well,” Fallon said.

With not a lot of experience on the team, the Lady Eagles have had a building season with the younger girls learning the skills needed to play.

Fallon said, “Our season has not been the best. We have a very young team that still needs to develop the required skill. However, we have improved a great deal this season and I am so proud of all of them. I have a high amount of confidence in their future seasons.”

Fallon participates in several other activities at school. She is a basketball cheerleader and is a member of the track team. She is the President of the FBLA and the National Honor Society; a member of Tri-M Honor Society, PJAS, Environthon, and Science Olympiad.

Giving back to her community is a priority for Fallon and it is something she spends a lot of time doing outside of school. In the last 18 months, she has accumulated 160 hours of community service. She also works on the weekends as a waitress at Bingham’s Family Restaurant in Lenox.

After graduation, she plans to attend college to study bioengineering, but has not decided which school she would like to attend.

She is the daughter of Paul and Pauline Fallon of Lenox Township.
