Lady Warriors leading Div. IV softball ranks

The Lady Warriors continue to dominate Division IV on the softball field with an 8-1 record going into the final games of the regular season.

But Mountain View is poised to challenge the top-ranked team. The Lady Eagles are in second place with a 6-1 record following a win over Susquehanna.

The teams were scheduled to meet on Tuesday.

This week, Elk Lake will take on the last place Blue Ridge Lady Raiders, while Mountain View plays Div. III-IV crossover games against Riverside.

In last week’s play action, Darci Warner hit a three-run home run to spark Elk Lake past Lackawanna Trail, 13-3, on Tuesday (April 28) in a Division IV softball game.

Warner finished with three hits and four RBIs.

Becca Phillips, who had two hits, and Emily Kasson, who drove in two, each had doubles in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Lady Warriors broke out with five runs.

Lindsey Dudock added two hits and two RBIs, while Whitney Tyler and Catey McAleer each contributed two hits for the winners.

Elk Lake faced the Lady Foresters on Thursday on the Warrior home field.

Darci Warner had two hits, including a home run, and drove in four to lead the Lady Warriors to a 17-2 Division IV win.

Lindsey Dudock had two hits, including a double, two RBIs and scored once for the winners.

Kayla Bebla had two hits, an RBI and a run scored for Forest City.

The 15-run rule ended the game with one out in the third inning.

The Lady Eagles collected wins from Blue Ridge and Susquehanna last week.

At Blue Ridge, Hannah Phillips went 4 for 4 with two RBIs and scored twice to lead Mountain View, 10-1 over the Lady Raiders.

Makenna Whitaker had four hits, including a triple, with two runs scored and two RBIs for the Lady Eagles.

Led by a five-RBI performance by Ariana Gabriel, Mountain View pulled within a game of the Lackawanna League Division IV softball lead, posting a 9-3 win over Susquehanna on Sunday.

Gabriel doubled in a run in the second and tripled in three in a decisive fifth inning that moved the Lady Eagles to 6-1 in the division.

Winning pitcher Sam Krisa cracked four singles and struck out 10 to earn the win. Rebekah Tiffany backed Krisa with a triple and a single and Lucy Adams contributed a pair of base knocks to the 14-hit attack.

Nicole Shay rapped a double and a single and drove in two for Susquehanna.
