Municipal tax collectors were exonerated from collecting the delinquent 2015 county taxes.
The $460,213 in unpaid taxes will be collected by the county’s Tax Claim Bureau.
Commissioner Alan Hall said the amount of unpaid taxes is roughly the same as it has been in past years.
The county approved the purchase of a 2016 Ford Explorer. The $20,654 costs will be paid with 50 percent of the funds coming from the federal government, 40 percent from the state, and 10 percent from the county. The vehicle will be used by the Department of Children & Youth.
Bids on several vehicles were opened at the Wednesday, Feb. 10, meeting.
High bids on four former Trehab transportation buses were sold; and one plow truck with a dump box was also awarded at the meeting.
Hall and Commissioner Elizabeth Arnold, were present at the meeting. Commissioner MaryAnn Warren was attending a conference.
