Eagles defeated by Trail

Mountain View’s boys’ volleyball team was handed a 3-0 shutout loss from Lackawanna Trail at Tunnel Hill on Tuesday night.

Lackawanna Trail took an early lead with over the Eagles with a 26-24 win in the first game, followed by a 27-25 win in the second.

Mountain View was then handed a loss on the night when the Lions defeated the Eagles 25-18 in the final game.

Logan Mack had six kills, four aces and seven digs, Chuck Cross had eight kills and Nathan Moyer had 17 assists for Mountain View.

Blue Ridge

The Blue Ridge Raiders boys’ volleyball team took a 3-1 win over Elk Lake on Thursday after it faced a 3-1 loss from Western Wayne on Tuesday night at New Milford.

On Thursday in the first game, the Raiders got ahead with a 25-15 win over Elk Lake, before the Warriors would come back with a 25-22 victory to tie things up at one apiece.

However, Blue Ridge took a pair of wins, 25-23 and 25-20 to finish off the Elk Lake team.

Blue Ridge’s Matt Principe had 25 assists, two kills and three aces and Chris Carlsen had eight aces, seven kills and two blocks to lead the Raiders. Mike Gathany added nine kills and one ace.

Elk Lake was paced by Mark Smurkowski with 10 kills, three aces and five blocks, while Jared Berg had five blocks, eight assists and 12 points for the Warriors.

Against Western Wayne, the Raiders got the night started with a 25-23 win over the Wildcats, however, Western Wayne defeated the Raiders 25-20 in the second game and 25-23 in the third to take a 2-1 lead.

Western Wayne then capped off the win with a 25-23 victory over Blue Ridge in the final game.

Carlsen had three aces and two blocks, Principe had 13 assists and Gathany had seven kills for Blue Ridge.

Forest City

Forest City’s boys’ volleyball team handed Susquehanna a 3-0 loss on the road on Tuesday evening.

The Foresters took the early lead going 25-21 over the Sabers, before making it 2-0 with a 25-18 win in the second game.

Forest City then capped off the night with a 25-21 win in the final game.

The Foresters were led by Chad Paulen and Mitch Goben with five kills and 10 assists apiece.

Susquehanna was paced by Taylor Cundey with 11 kills and Mike Frye with 16 assists.
