The Elk Lake baseball team saw its playoff hopes dashed on Wednesday at Mid Valley, as the Spartans handed the Warriors a 3-1 loss to end their season.
Despite winning six of their last eight regular season games, the Warriors squandered a first inning, 1-0, lead as Mid Valley scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, and an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth while holding Elk Lake scoreless.
Holden Lunger took the pitching loss for Elk Lake giving up four hits, two earned runs and four walks while striking out eight in six innings on the mound.
Adam Phillips had a hit and an RBI while Nick Dudock and Jeff Horvath each added a double.
The Warriors end their 2011 run with an 7-8 record.
