Forest City outslugged in first round

The Forest City baseball team faced an 18-3 loss in the opening round of District II Class A playoff action from Old Forge’s Blue Devils.

Forest City was knocked out in three innings by the Blue Devils, who scored four runs in the first, six in the second and eight in the third to end the game by the 10-run rule.

The Foresters scored a pair of runs in the second and one in the third in the loss.

Forest City was led by a hit and an RBI from Ryan Jensen, while Logan Fitzsimmons, Seth Thomas, Alex Kresock and Nick Luchonok each added hits.

Zach Mendoza was the losing pitcher, giving up five hits, eight earned runs and six walks in two innings on the mound. On offense, Mendoza drove in a run.

The Foresters’ season run ends with an 0-15 record overall.
