Lady Raiders eliminate Mt. View

The Blue Ridge softball team advanced to the District II Class A finals after defeating Mountain View at home on Friday, 1-0.

Blue Ridge’s only run of the game scored when Courtney Ucci’s fly ball to center field was dropped, allowing Jackie Furch to score with two outs in the fourth inning.

Ucci was the winning pitcher for the Raiders, allowing only four hits, including two by Mountain View’s Ashley Nichols.

Eagle pitcher Alix Taylor picked up the loss for Mountain View, fanning six batters while allowing one hit, no earned runs and no walks.

Adding hits for Mountain View were Taylor and Andrew Beeman, each with a single.

Blue Ridge will meet Old Forge in the finals on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Mid Valley.
