A 33-year-old Hallstead man faces 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl over the course of six months in 2010.
Christopher Nabinger, 33, admitted in Susquehanna County Court Friday that oral sex with the child occurred sometime between June and December of last year. He pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 16 – a felony which carries a lifetime sex offender registration requirement.
In a plea agreement, District Attorney Jason Legg agreed to waive the mandatory minimum 10-year sentence for the charge. He also agreed to drop 17 other sexual assault related charges initially leveled against Nabinger.
President Judge Kenneth Seamans ordered Nabinger be evaluated by the Sexual Offenders Assessment Board prior to his Nov. 21 sentencing.
According to the police affidavit, police were notified Jan. 12 by Susquehanna County Children and Youth Services regarding allegations made against Nabinger.
He was interviewed by police on Jan. 18. According to police, Nabinger first denied the accusations but later said there were a “few” times when he inappropriately touched the victim.
Nabinger remains free on $10,000 unsecured bail. He is not to have contact with the victim and is to refrain from committing any further criminal conduct against the victim.
