Foresters defeat Lady Raiders

Forest City’s girls’ volleyball team defeated Blue Ridgeat home on Wednesday night, 3-0, in a Lackawanna League matchup.

The Foresters took three consecutive victories 25-23, 25-20 and 25-18 to defeat the Lady Raiders.

ForForestCity, Courtney Andrews had 12 points, four aces, two blocks, three kills, six assists and 10 digs while Kristine Kuriger had 12 points, one ace, two blocks, three kills, three assists and eight digs.

Morgan Saul had 15 points, six aces, one kill, six assists and six digs and Samantha Kuriger had six points, five aces, five blocks, six kills, two assists and five digs forForestCity.

Ashley Warren ledBlue Ridgewith 15 assists and 10 digs while Kristen Brown had one ace and six kills for the Raiders.

Mountain View

Mountain View’s Lady Eagle volleyball team faced a 3-0 loss at home toDunmoreon Thursday after it picked up a 3-1 win overAbingtonHeightson the road on Wednesday.

AgainstDunmore, the Bucks came out to defeatMountain View25-11 in the first set, and quickly took a 2-0 lead with a 25-16 win in the second.

Dunmorethen finished off the Lady Eagles with a 25-8 victory in the final set.

Mikaela Phillips had three kills and Angel Kester had two kills for the Eagles.

On Wednesday, the Eagles won the first set 27-25 and the second set 25-18 before Abington would come back with a 25-9 win in the third to make it 2-1.

However, the Lady Eagles defeated the Comets 28-26 in the final set to come out ahead.

Dominique Chadwick had six kills and Melissa Monahan had seven kills to leadMountain View.

Susquehanna

The Susquehanna girls’ volleyball team grabbed a 3-1 win overForestCityon Friday at home after it was handed a 3-0 loss fromDunmorein a match on Bucks territory on Wednesday.

On Friday, The Sabers won the first two sets 27-25 and 25-21 beforeForestCitywould make it 3-1 with a 25-23 win in the third.

However, Susquehanna took the win with a 25-16 victory in the fourth set.

Courtney Arthur led the Sabers with 12 points, two aces, three digs and 11 kills.

Devon Breese had six kills, seven points and six digs while Danielle Barnes added eight kills, 18 points, five aces, four assists and 10 digs. Ashley Sweeney had six kills, nine points, 23 assists and four digs.

ForForestCity, Courtney Andrews had 13 points, four kills, five assists and 10 digs.

On Wednesday, the Bucks downed Susquehanna 25-13 in the first set before topping the Sabers 25-13 in the second and 25-9 in the third.

Breese had three kills and Mary Kemmerer had two kills and five blocks to lead Susquehanna.

Elk Lake

Elk Lake’s girls’ volleyball team faced a 3-0 loss from Lackawanna Trail on the road on Wednesday evening.

Lackawanna Trail won the first set, 25-14, before defeated the Warriors 25-18 in the second set and 25-15 in the third to cap off the victory.

Kati VanEtten had six assists and nine digs, Carley Bennett had five kills and three digs and Susanne Tewksbury had three kills and six assist forElkLake.

Montrose

Montrose Area’s girls’ volleyball team faced a 3-1 loss from Western Waynein a game on the road on Thursday evening.

Western  Wayne came out to take a 2-0 lead with wins in the first set, 25-18, and second set, 25-10, before Montrose would make it 2-1 with a 25-20 victory in the third.

However,Western Waynesprung back with a 26-24 victory in the fourth set to defeat Montrose.

Katie Volk had six kills and three aces for Montrose and Miranda Dunne added 11 assists.

Montrose’s Brooke Malloy had three kills, nine digs and two aces while Ally Stocks had six assists.

Blue Ridge

Blue Ridge’s girls’ volleyball team faced a 3-0 loss at home on Friday night against Lackawanna Trial.

The Lions defeatedBlue Ridgein three consecutive sets, 25-10, 25-16 and 25-15 to pick up the victory.

ForBlue Ridge, Kailey Ragard had three kills, eight digs and one block.
