Foresters eliminated from D2 playoffs

TheForest City boys’ soccer team faced a 4-0 loss from Holy Cross in the District II Class A semifinals held at Scranton Memorial Stadium on Monday.

The Foresters were down 1-0 at halftime, and after three more consecutive unanswered goals in the second half,ForestCityended its season.

The Foresters had nine shots on goal and two corners while goalie Zack Sosnowski had six saves.

Last Wednesday in the first round, the Foresters grabbed a 3-0 victory over Meyers to advance to Monday’s game.

ForestCityhad one goal in the first half as Brian Nebzydoski found the net with an assist from Wayde Loomis at4:19.

After halftime,ForestCityadded a goal from Ryan Long at 46:33 and another from Dave Cavalieri on a penalty kick on 57:11.

ForestCityhad 18 shots on goal and 11 corner kicks while Sosnowski had 10 saves on the day.

The Foresters end their season with a 14-2 overall record.
