Unable to get a shot off through 80 minutes of soccer,Mountain View’s girls soccer team fell, 5-0, to District 4 champion Loyalsock in the first round of the PIAA Class A playoffs Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles (13-1) were playing without key forward/midfielder Alix Taylor, who was out with an injury, and coach Errol Mannick said his team didn’t show the usual spark it had.
“They were a good team, and we were definitely hurt without Alix in there, but we had maybe three kids that played with heart and desire,” he said. “The rest of them were lost.”
Loyalsock advances to faceMount Carmelin the quarterfinals Saturday.Mount Carmelbeat Schuylkill Haven, 5-0.
Alexandria Pagana and Alonna Soars each scored twice for the Lancers (17-1-3), and Morgan Chambers’ goal in the 38th minute put them up 2-0 at halftime.
Caity Tague made 14 saves in goal forMountain View, which had eight shutouts during the regular season.
