Foster received a gold medal for hisChocolateRaspberryPortand a silver for hisShiraz. He began his wine-making hobby in 20000 and entered his first competition at the Kiwanis Wyoming County Fair in 2008.
He is known for making special wines to celebrate special family occasions: bridal showers, weddings and the birth of grandchildren.
The spring wine judging inVermontsaw 4,318 entries from 50 American states, eightCanadianProvincesand seven countries being judged in the largest wine competition of its kind in the world.
Entries arrived from hobby winemakers from all overNorth America, as well as places likeIceland,TurkeyandAustralia. The wines were entered in 50 different categories with wine kits competing alongside fresh grape entries.
