Man involved in vet center standoff enters plea

The man involved in a police standoff outside aSusquenannaCountyveterinary clinic in May pleaded guilty in court Friday to a felony charge.

Joshua Whitehead, 25, Wyalusing, faces up to seven years in prison for receiving stolen property in Bridgewater Twp.

In a plea agreement, District Attorney Jason Legg agreed that Whitehead be sentenced at the lower end of the aggravated range for the charge. However, no agreement was made as to whether Whitehead would serve time in the county jail or in a state prison.

Whitehead admitted to taking a vehicle belonging to aBradfordCountycouple and driving to theSouthtownVeterinaryHospitalin Bridgewater Twp. to get treatment for a dog with porcupine quills in its mouth.

Whitehead, according to Legg, has agreed to pay restitution to the owners of the vehicle and to the veterinary clinic.

Whitehead has been held on $50,000 bail since his arrest. He is scheduled for be sentenced on Sept. 22.
