After years of casting ballots in the Susquehanna County Office Building, Montrose Ward 1 voters will head to a new location starting with the May 15 General Primary Election.
Voters living in Montrose Ward 1 (north of Church Street in the borough), will now vote at the Trehab office conference, located on Public Avenue, Montrose. The polling place and change complies with ADA regulations.
The County Election Board – comprised of the three commissioners – approved the polling place change at the Wednesday, March 14 meeting.
The commissioners’ tackled a lean agenda that included several staffing changes at the Susquehanna County Correctional Facility.
The commissioners also acknowledged the hiring of Paul Burnett, of Johnson City, N.Y., by District Attorney Marion O’Malley to a part-time temporary position.
Burnett will her as a Task Force DARE Instructor for a 10-week program, March 6-30. The revamped DARE program will be brought to fifth graders in all six school districts located in the county.
The Tax Claim Bureau was exonerated from collecting taxes on a parcel in Springville Twp. trailer that has been removed.
April was proclaimed as Pennsylvania 811 Safe Digging Month. Residents are reminded to always call 811 before they dig to request utility line locations prior to breaking ground.
Appointments were made to the Susquehanna County Local Emergency Planning Committee for terms running through 2019; and the county’s Emergency Preparedness Task Force for 2018-19 was also appointed.
Commissioner Alan Hall announced the county received a “Patriotic Citizens Award” from Veterans Affairs and the VFW for flying the US Flag, and POW flag for one-year straight. A plaque was given to the county by the groups.
