Marvin Pierson France of Austin, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the age of 83. He was born on September 17, 1941 in Montrose, PA. He grew up on the family farm in Lawton, PA, and graduated from Elk Lake High School in Springville, PA in 1959.
He earned an Associate of Applied Science degree from Broome Tech, Binghamton, NY, in 1961 and then began his career as a nuclear reactor operator at Argonne National Lab in Lamont, IL. That is where he met his beloved wife of 62 years – Beverly Jean Bahor.
Between 1966 and 1979, he and Beverly owned and operated Fast Printing in Joliet, IL. After moving to Virginia in 1979, he worked at Kelly Press and Mount Vernon Printing. After retiring in 2009, he and Beverly moved to Austin, TX where Marv enjoyed working part-time at Eagle Peak Shooting Range in Leander, TX as a range officer.
Marv was preceded in death by his parents Ralph Benton France and Inez Fanetta Pierson of Lawton, PA. He is survived by his wife Beverly, daughters Cheryl Baker (husband Jimmy of Bentonville, VA and Austin, TX), and Michelle Landoll (fiancé Len Pickus) of Austin, TX. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren – Brendan Baker (Harrisonburg, VA), Jennifer Baker (fiancé Ted Sniderman, Manor, TX), Thomas Landoll (fiancée Andie Johnson, Austin, TX), Kasey Dubowsky (husband Adam, Los Angeles, CA) and Rachel Landoll (Austin, TX).
Also surviving are his brother, Wayne France of Burke, VA, his sister-in-law Diane Carter of Joliet, IL, one nephew Matthew Carter (wife Chrissy), and two nieces – Nikki Darnes (husband Dave) and Sara Coursey (husband Justin). Marv had many loves besides his family – the great outdoors, hunting and shooting. Also, he was a big fan of the Texas Rangers.
On Thursday, September 4th services were held at Emmaus Catholic Church in Lakeway, TX followed by a graveside service and burial at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park (6300 W William Cannon Dr, Austin, TX). Condolences may be sent to Cheryl France Baker at cbaker9@cox.net.
