In a successful season for area boys’ soccer players, Lackawanna League coaches recognized
several players for their individual seasons in the annual coaches’ poll. After capturing the Lackawanna League Division II championship it came as no surprise the Eagles would be well represented on the all-star list selected by division coaches. Three seniors made the first team as defender Ian Briechle, and midfielders Julian MacDonald and Joel Tigue were honored for their efforts.
MacDonald and Tigue were both three-year starters and were instrumental in both of the Eagles’ two Lackawanna League Championships and appearance in the District II finals two of
the three past seasons. Meanwhile, Briechle earned the honor in his first season as a starter.
Mountain View nearly had two more players on the first team as sophomore forward Blake Norton and Senior midfielder Josh Tigue tied with another player at their position and lost on the
tiebreaker in the coaches’ poll.

Norton the Eagles leading scorer took his game to another level after an outstanding inaugural
varsity season while Tigue, a three-year starter, took on an even more pivotal role in the Eagles’ success. Joining the pair on the second team were two juniors – defender Jordan Jagger and goalkeeper Nicholas Beach.
Jagger centered the Eagle defensive back line and was a valuable offensive asset with his ability to execute throw-ins from well over three-quarters the width of the field. Beach was outstanding in his first year as a varsity starter for the Eagles. In the District playoffs, Beach took his game to another level enabling Mountain View to reach the Class A final and holding champion Wyoming Seminary to two lone goals in the final.
Mountain View coach Travis MacDonald lauded the efforts of his team including this group of all-stars for leading the way to the Eagles’ successful season.
“This team had success because they put in the time and worked extremely hard in the
offseason,” MacDonald said. “Truly a group of talented young men that knew what they wanted and what they had to do to find success.”

County athletes represented well on the Lackawanna League Division III all-star team were also
selected by division coaches.
Elk Lake had three representatives voted to the team led by senior midfielder Cohen Orlandini
who capped his career with a first-team selection for the second consecutive year. He was joined by senior goalkeeper Gage Shupp and Junior defender Connor Stephens. Blue Ridge had the other first-team representative as Senior Parker Glasgow was honored by division coaches. Glasgow was joined by two teammates on the second team as senior forward Riley Phillips was tabbed along with senior midfielder Nolan Gnade.
Montrose also had three all-stars all named to the second team as senior defender Kaden Andre capped his career with the honor while leading scorer junior forward Adam Sorenson
and sophomore midfielder Jack Stahl were recognized.
