The Elk Lake swim program traveled to Tunkhannock to open the season on Dec. 3 and 4. The Lady Warriors nipped Tunkhannock 86-84 with Brynn Warriner and Avery Kerr leading the way with a pair of wins as Warriner captured the 200-yard individual medley (2:30.11) and the 100-yard freestyle (58.27) races, and Kerr won the 50-yard freestyle (29.35) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:26.82).
Chelsea Grosvenor won the 100-yard butterfly race (1:08.91) and was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1.26.82).
McKenna Puterbaugh picked up points with a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (6:50.28) and a third-place in the 200-yard individual medley (2:59.02).
Taylor States was second in the one-meter diving competition (score 155.15) while Alex Perez (50-yard freestyle, 33.32) and Alayna Stang (100-yard backstroke, 1:21.70) had third-place finishes.
In the relays, the Lady Warriors captured the 400-yard freestyle with the team of Lydia Howell, Perez, Nora Kaetzel, and Allison Long with a time of 5:08.06. Finishing second in the 200-yard medley relay were Puterbaugh, Perez, Grosvenor, and Stang (2:16.23) while Warriner, Kerr, Howell and Trinity Bell were third (2:20.59).
Grosvenor, Bell, Long and Kerr were second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:03.95) with Warriner, Perez, Kaetzel, and Stang finishing third (2:06.88).
On the boys’ side, Tunkhannock had too much depth for the Warriors as they won 124-43.
The Warriors were led by Isaac Dilmore who finished second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:09.01) and second in the 50-yard freestyle (26.69).
Isaiah Jones was second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:42.24) while Alan Perez placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:32.37).
Getting points with third-place finishes were Nico Christian in the 100-yard freestyle (1:09.67) and Blaize Ball in the 100-yard backstroke (1:28.04).
Ball, Matt Buffington, Dilmore and Jones were second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:16.77) and third in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:56.90).
