Lady Eagles stay perfect, BR wins debut

Mountain View overcame a slow start in a 73-42 road win over Pocono Mountain East. Gaining momentum just before halftime the Lady Eagles led 30-25 points after Addison Kilmer and Dazlyn Sobol combined for 12 of the Lady Eagles’ 16 points. Mountain View came out of intermission to push the lead to 46-35 behind 11 more points from Kilmer. Mountain View then exploded for 27 points in the final stanza as Aubrey Sanders and Emily Trichilo combined for 15 of those points. Kilmer finished with 34 points for the second time in three games while Sanders added 16 and Trichilo finished with 11 as the Lady Eagles moved to 3-0 on the season.
Blue Ridge opened their season with a split decision. The Lady Raiders went across the border to Greene, New York and jumped out on the Lady Trojans for a 19-4 lead behind 12 points from Abi Gelinger.
Blue Ridge increased the lead by 21 points at halftime and kept pace in the second half to give coach Ian Gelinger a 64-37 win in his debut. Abi Gelinger finished with 31 points and eight rebounds while Lyndee Barbour added 16 points and Melody Bloomer chipped in with 12 rebounds. Two nights later, in the Lady Raiders’ home opener visiting Northeast Bradford went on a 26-6 run in the second quarter to cruise to a 51-37 win over the hosts. Gelinger again led the way with 21 points while Barbour finished with 10.
Holy Cross stymied the Montrose offense and rallied for a 59-39 preseason win over the Lady Meteors. Montrose led 26-20 at halftime, but were outscored 39-13 in the second half. Sadie Jones and Libby Bush each reached double figures for Montrose with Jones finishing with 21 points including a 7-8 performance from the free throw line while Bush added 10 points. The Lady Meteors are searching for their first win after a 0-3 start.
Forest City rallied from an early deficit before falling to Wilkes-Barre Area 36-33. The Lady Foresters trailed 24-16 at intermission and held even to trail 30-22 heading into the fourth quarter. In the final stanza Forest City outscored the host Wolfpack 11-6 but couldn’t finish the climb to fall 36-33. Kayla Pecko led the charge with 11 points for the Lady Foresters while Claire and Sophia Lombardi each added nine points.
