MONTROSE — The amendment to the land ordinance that would restrict data center builders from having a free for all in Susquehanna County passed during the commissioners’ meeting on Monday afternoon.
People had questions about whether the HVAC requirements will be restrictive enough, and what the ordinance will or won’t do. Certain dimensions, water usage limits and sound limits are all things within the ordinance that will help protect the county by providing restrictions the builders would have to follow. All in all, the meeting went swiftly and without a hitch.
Commissioner Dave Darrow said there have not been any inquiries submitted by builders so far. But they are beginning to look at areas to buy and build in Wyalusing, so it’s best to get ahead of the issue now instead of later, he said.
The amendment, Ordinance 2025-01, is now signed into law as of Monday. Now, it moves to the planning board where it will be reviewed at 30, 60 and 90 days and will be open to improvements. The ordinance is available to read at susqco.com under current events.
