Elk Lake swim opened up the Lackawanna League schedule with a pair of wins as both the boys’ and girls’ programs defeated Dunmore on Dec. 17.
The Lady Warriors swept the relays while Chelsea Grosvenor and Avery Kerr both collected
individual wins as Elk Lake defeated the Lady Bucks 92-27.
Kerr, Taylor States, McKenna Puterbaugh, and Allison Long won the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:04.34) for the Lady Warriors while Grosvenor, Trinity Bell, Nora Kaetzel and Alyana Stang were second (2:10.99).
Long, Bell, Kerr and Kaetzel won the 200-yard medley relay (2:33.68). Stang, Bell, Puterbaugh and Grosvenor captured the 400-yard freestyle relay but according to the provided time sheet, they received a DQ and a final time was not listed.
Grosvenor won both the 100 freestyle (1:01.43) and 200-yard freestyle (2:22.17) races while Kerr won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:27.54) and 200-yard IM (2:58.75).
Stang took the 50-yard freestyle (29.54) followed by Long (30.96) and Bell (34.76) in a sweet first, second and third place sweep. Long also took first in the 500-yard freestyle (6:43.24) with Stang grabbing second (6:51.73) making for a one-two punch by the duo.
States also won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 142.20 and Kaetzel finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:37.02).
The Warriors also garnered a win taking down the Bucks 72-31 as they swept all three relay events. Julian Bernard, Isaiah Jones, Isaac Dilmore and Malachi Baier won the 200-yard medley relay (2:17.82) and then Dilmore and Jones teamed up with Nico Chrisitan and Blaize Ball to win the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:49.57).
Baier, Bernard, Christian and Ball also took the 400-yard freestyle relay (5:11.58).
Jones won two individual events in the 100-yard backstroke (1:10.52) and the 200-yard IM (2:22.52) while Ball captured the 50-yard freestyle (30.26) with Baier right behind him (30.42) in a nail-biting race to the finish, adding to the team’s overall collection of one-two finishes. Bernard took second after Jones in the 100-yard backstroke (1:36.72). Dilmore added second-place finishes in the 100-yard breast (1:33.44) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:18.76). In the 100-yard freestyle, Christian (1:05.77) and Ball (1:06.04) were back to back in second and third place, respectively.
