The Elk Lake swim program rang in the new year with the annual Keep the Beat Invitational with both programs hauling in some medals while some took down an event record.
Brynn Warriner led the Lady Warriors capturing two individual events and setting a meet record
while also earning two silver medals in the relays.
Warriner set a KTB record in the 50-yard freestyle when she won the event with a time of 26.15
that eclipsed the old record by .03 seconds set by Camryn Rogers in 2018.
Teammate Chelsea Grosvenor finished seventh in the field of 24 swimmers with a time of 27.42.
Warriner also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.31 seconds to best the field of 21
swimmers. Alayna Stang also finished in the top 10 coming in at seventh place with a time of
1:04.87.
In the 100-yard individual medley, Warriner finished third with a time of 1:09.32. Joining her in
the top 10 was Grosvenor who finished sixth (1:11.44) and Avery Kerr who placed ninth with a
time of 1:18.08.
Grosvenor also captured the 100-yard butterfly finishing in a time of 1:06.01.
Warriner and Grosvenor were also part of two silver-medal relay teams as they teamed with
Avery Kerr and Alayna Stang to finish second in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:06.75
and the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:51.18.
The quartet of McKenna Puterbaugh, Alex Perez, Lydia Howell, and Allison Long also finished
second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:51.83.
The Lady Warriors also had a pair of individual bronze medals with Taylor States finishing third
in the one-meter dive event with a score of 143.55 and Long finished third in the 500-yard
freestyle race with a time of 6:45.08.
Long was followed by Puterbaugh in fourth place (6:52.6) and Howell in fifth (7:09.35)
Kerr earned a pair of fifth-place finishes taking fifth in the 200-yard individual medley at time of
2:58.06 and in the 100-yard breaststroke that she finished in 1:26.23. Perez was two places
behind her in the breaststroke finishing in a time of 1:34.24.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Long was fifth with her time of 2:31.22 followed by Howell in seventh
(2:45.67) and Nora Kaetzel in ninth (2:56.65).
Puterbaugh added a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard back stroke and was joined in the top 10
by Kaetzel who placed eighth in a time of 1:34.25.
For the Warriors, Isaiah Jones paced their effort earning a pair of silver medals. Jones finished second in the 200-yard freestyle race with a time of 1:58.41, and he was joined in the top 10 by Matt Buffington who finished 10th with a time of 2:34.92.
In the 500-yard freestyle event, Jones was second with his time of 5:35.27 while Buffington
finished seventh with a time of 6:50.50.
Blaize Ball finished eighth in the 100-yard back stroke with a time of 1:21.01 while Alan Perez
had a ninth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke coming in at 1:27.79.
The Warriors also earned three fifth-place finishes in the relay events as Ball, Perez, Buffington,
and Malachi Baier placed fifth in the 200-yard medley race. In the 200-yard freestyle, Isaac Dilmore, Perez, Nico Christian and Buffington swam a 1:49.06 to capture fifth place, and in the 400-yard freestyle Dilmore, Ball, Christian and Jones took fifth with a time of 4:14.83.
